Passat TDI traverses West Coast
Everyone at Volkswagen is really excited about the 2012 Passat TDI! Two of our fellow dealerships in Oregon were so excited about it that they decided to put it to the test and see just how far it could go on a single tank of gas. If you’ve ever stretched your tank to the limit then you’ll really appreciate this story and your friends here at your local VW dealership are here with all the details! Read on to learn how far they got!
Our friends out in Oregon started their journey, each in a Chicago Volkswagen Passat TDI SEL Premium topped off with clean diesel fuel, and drove 484 on the first day without any concern over stopping to re-fuel. The next morning, they continued their journey and drove another 315 miles to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco – and they still didn’t need to fill up!
Their journey continued and they hit some stop-n-go traffic, and finally decided to fill up with still two and a half gallons left in the tank. Had they missed this traffic, it’s safe to bet they could have gotten 950 to 1,000 miles on a single tank! How far have you ever gotten on a tank of gas?
The Passat TDI normally boasts 43 miles per gallon on the highway, but this pair was able to get an incredible 55 mpg on his trip! We’re impressed!
You may be wondering just how comfortable they were on this trek down the coast. Well here’s what one of the drivers have to say: “There’s no sound at all. … It’s quieter than a gas engine. There’s no smell, no noise and it’s a clean-burning diesel.” He went on to say “The TDI is more than green; it has lower emissions than any gas car, and because it’s a turbo diesel, it gives you the performance of a sports car. And by the way: you can get 40 to 50 miles per gallon—in a luxury sedan!”
Hearing this, what are you waiting for!? Come in and check out the 2012 Chicago VW Passat TDI! We can’t wait to see you!
